Each Chico Cal team currently registered with Butte Youth Soccer League (BYSL) is coached by an appropriately certified coach with a minimum CYSA "E" level coaching certification or a USSF Advanced Regional Diploma. Some of our coaches are also credentialed with additional certifications defined by national soccer governing bodies and organizations.

Chico Cal expressly wants to invite all individuals who are interested in coaching to very seriously consider going through the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) coaching series and/or National Soccer Coaching Association of America NSCAA to
obtain the certifications necessary to coach a Club Team. For Division
III coaching a Head Coach must have a minimum "E" level certification.
All Assistant coaches must have a minimum "F" level certification. At
least one person on the sideline acting as a Head or Assistant Coach
must also have a Grade 8 referee certification. More detailed
information can be found by on the CYSA Home Page and also through this Coaching Link.
Referee certification courses are also offered frequently, with more
information generally made available through the league of registration
BYSL.
CYSA promotes the understanding and development of a 9 step routine for
coaching teams to success. The entry level certification "F" generally
consists of a 9 hour course attended over a Friday Evening and the
following Saturday. The "E" level course can be taken in the same
season as the "F" and consists of an 18 hour course attended from a
Friday evening and the following Saturday and Sunday. The courses are
offered all over the State beginning in March and extending through
November. More information on the dates and locations of courses may be
found here.

Chico Cal needs to grow! In
order for us to grow and provide a more refined program, we need
coaches. It is our goal to find and certify additional coaches before we field additional teams.
The Division IV program requires an "F" level certification.
Typically, coaches are parents who have been volunteering their time
with their kids, have entered the local recreational program and may
know some basics about the game. There are also those who have been
more involved with the game and may know more about the game.
All of our coaches are on a volunteer basis. The reason for this is to
attempt to keep the costs as low as possible. Individual teams and
parents may elect to come up with other arrangements.
If you possess the desire to learn the
game and be a good teacher, you can be educated to be an effective coach
for a Division III team and contribute to the growth of Chico Cal Soccer!
You may contact the club directly at (530) 228-2146, should you have additional questions.
