About UsTop of Page

The Chico Cal Soccer Club is a competitive Club operating under the Butte Youth Soccer League (BYSL).  BYSL is the regional organization for Butte County. BYSL operates under the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA).  Chico Cal, as well as other regional clubs, operate within District 6 which includes the counties of Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Colusa, Yolo, Solano, Sutter, Yuba, Sacramento, Nevada, Sierra, Placer and El Dorado. Many of the teams we play are largely from, within and around the greater Sacramento Area.

Chico Cal also fields teams in the Region 6 Divisions of the Norcal Premier League of US Club Soccer.

Chico Cal encourages any player within the community and boundaries of BYSL to try out for our club in the upcoming Spring tryouts for 2012/13.  Age divisions are available for both boys and girls U9 - U19.  Tryouts for teams usually begin in late Februrary or early March of each year with teams beginning their season in the first week of September.  The season consists of between 8 - 10 regular season games.

Code of Conduct:

We ask that coaches, parents, and players remember that we are all ambassadors for Chico Cal Soccer Club, Butte Youth Soccer League, Butte County and Chico. It is our responsibility as coaches, managers and parents to set a good example of how to behave and have good sportsmanship when in the presence of home and away team players and parents. Please familiarize yourself with our Code of Conduct and help to enforce that all Chico Cal Soccer Club members abide by it.

We expect that all spectators and parents will abide by the following:

Spectators and parents are never allowed to talk to or physically challenge a referee during or after a game.

Spectators and parents may not coach players.

Coaches may question referees for clarification and should always use a respectful voice and attitude.

No derogatory remarks, gestures or profanity will be tolerated at any time by anyone.

Coaches will be responsible for their team's spectators and parents.  A referee has the authority to send off a coach in response to unacceptable spectator or parent actions.

Coaches, spectators, parents and players are expected to relay only positive comments to the other teams' players.

No alcohol, tobacco, or dogs on the soccer grounds or parking lots.

Let the players play and the coaches coach. The responsibility of spectators and parents is to enjoy the game and provide encouragement and support for all players!

PhilosophyTop of Page
Chico Cal chooses to focus our efforts on building recreational and select teams around three values.

  • Family First: The development of the players is firmly founded upon the relationships they have with their own family as well as their team and coaches.  It is the support and commitment of parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters that  significantly contributes to the progress of each player and it is our commitment to respect that element of each player. It is important for us to understand this as we develop the players skills. In the process, we hope to promote participation in Chico Cal as a fun activity for the players and the families.
  • Work Ethic:  Hard work and respect for your team and coaches is the most productive way for us to teach players the skills necessary for improving themselves as players and as a person.  This means showing up to practice on time. listening and working hard.  This club recognizes that working hard does not mean physically pushing the players beyond their individual potential and abilities.  It is our job to find each players potentials and limits and work towards those boundaries with them.
  • Success:   The right combination of coaching, teaching and training can and ultimately will produce results.  Success is defined by more than just winning.  Success is marked by improvement in soccer skills as well as life skills.  Success will also be driven by having quality coaching and training.  By focusing on these elements, winning will be a likely outcome.
Growth

Our club believes we possess the desire and ability to provide your child with the tools they need to become a skilled and competitive player.   Teams are availabe beginning in the U10 Boys and Girls age group.  The Division III program is not a recreational program and we ask that those wishing to participate understand this.  There is a monetary and time investment required for the program to be successful.  We are inviting all those players and their families to become more familiar with Chico Cal soccer.  Ask us questions in an effort to decide if this next step is right for you.  It is a commitment of time and cost.  If you like the game of the world, we believe we have a program available that can provide your child with a good experience.
