2010/2011 Season:
Tryouts have nearly been completed and most teams have been formed in all age groups. We wish to thank everyone for attending tryouts. Between both Chico Cal and Butte United, it appears there is an overall increase in the number of area teams. In the opinion of Chico Cal, this is a success!
Chico Cal wishes to thank Butte United for providing and transporting tables, chairs and related equipment during tryouts. And thank you to all those who volunteered in helping players register and get to their assigned fields for tryouts.
We wish all players and teams success in the upcoming season of play.
U19 Girls Rebels:
The U19 Girls Rebels is looking for players. The cost is $100.00 for registration and $110.00 for 3 tournaments. Uniforms and travel shirts will be paid for by a team sponsor. Please contact Tino Nava at 519-1303 or tan4@pge.com for further information.

The Chico Cal Soccer Club is a Division III and IV Club operating under the Butte Youth Soccer League (BYSL). BYSL is the regional organization for Butte County. BYSL operates under the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA). Chico Cal, as well as other regional clubs, operate within District 6 which includes the counties of Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Colusa, Yolo, Solano, Sutter, Yuba, Sacramento, Nevada, Sierra, Placer and El Dorado. Many of the teams we play are largely from, within and around the greater Sacramento Area.
Chico Cal encourages any player within the community and boundaries of BYSL to try out for our club for Division III and IV teams. Age divisions are available for both boys and girls U10 - U19. Tryouts for Division III teams usually begin in March of each year with teams beginning their season in the first week of September. Division IV signups are largely recreational, do not require tryouts and occur in late July. Signups for the Divison IV program did not yeild any teams for Chico Cal. The season consists of between 8 - 10 regular season games.

Upcoming Clinics:
Butte United and Chico Cal will be working together to bring more National Soccer Coaching Association of America (NSCAA) coaching clinics to Northern California in an effort to build and educate the local pool of coaches. We will be working on getting Youth and Advanced Youth Diploma courses scheduled for coaches to become educated in how to coach our younger players aged 5 - 12. The goal will be to provide the opportunity for our younger players to develop in an age appropriate atmosphere.

Chico Cal chooses to focus our efforts on building recreational and select teams around three values.
- Family First: The development of the players is firmly founded upon the relationships they have with their own family as well as their team and coaches. It is the support and commitment of parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters that significantly contributes to the progress of each player and it is our commitment to respect that element of each player. It is important for us to understand this as we develop the players skills. In the process, we hope to promote participation in Chico Cal as a fun activity for the players and the families.
- Work Ethic: Hard work and respect for your team and coaches is the most productive way for us to teach players the skills necessary for improving themselves as players and as a person. This means showing up to practice on time. listening and working hard. This club recognizes that working hard does not mean physically pushing the players beyond their individual potential and abilities. It is our job to find each players potentials and limits and work towards those boundaries with them.
- Success: The right combination of coaching, teaching and training can and ultimately will produce results. Success is defined by more than just winning. Success is marked by improvement in soccer skills as well as life skills. Success will also be driven by having quality coaching and training. By focusing on these elements, winning will be a likely outcome.
Growth
Our club believes we possess the desire and ability to provide your child with the tools they need to become a skilled and competitive player. Teams are availabe beginning in the U10 Boys and Girls age group. The Division III program is not a recreational program and we ask that those wishing to participate understand this. There is a monetary and time investment required for the program to be successful. We are inviting all those players and their families to become more familiar with Chico Cal soccer. Ask us questions in an effort to decide if this next step is right for you. It is a commitment of time and cost. If you like the game of the world, we believe we have a program available that can provide your child with a good experience.
